Atalaya golf course owes much of its charm and beauty to the fact that it was created back in 1968, before the rash of golf urbanisation development that has seen golf courses spring up all over the Costa del Sol. It was a slower pace of life in those days, when the design of a golf course was the priority rather than packing in the apartments on the edge of every fairway. Skilled ground staff have not only maintained the quality of the golf courses over the years, but created a perfect ambience around the clubhouse with pretty fountains surrounded by richly-coloured beds of flowers. The fact that it is a members’ club open to green fee paying guests gives it a distinctive edge over its newer, flashier competitors. There’s always a convivial buzz around the clubhouse where members and guests alike are made welcome on the terrace or in the bar. Easy to find, on the road to Benahavis, its central location, close to the beach and within a short drive from some of the region’s most luxurious hotels, make it a favourite venue for visitors. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Sierra Blanca mountains, its two magnificent 18-hole courses - the Atalaya Old Course and the Atalaya New Course - are lined with mature eucalyptus trees, cactus and palms and pink and white azaleas that fill the air with an unforgettable and intoxicating scent. Atalaya New Golf Course opened in 1990 with 18 holes, Par 71 and a length of 5142 meters Atalaya New is more challenging and hilly then the Old course. While the experts might find the challenge a little limited, the average club golfer will certainly find it quite enough to handle as the greens are sharply contoured and quick. (...)
El Paraiso Golf Course lies in the valley in the foothills of the Sierra Bermaja mountains. The fairways bordered by heavy rough include meandering streams and fauna such as oleander, jacaranda, and mimosas. The clubhouse is situated in the middle of the golf course and calls the 6th hole its ''Signature hole'' which has a dogleg left par 5 and needs the drive to avoid two bunkers on both sides and also a lake in the second shot. The club also offers a golf school with lessons for the beginner to the professional and in a wide variety of languages. It is also home to the GASP swing analyzing system. (...)
Los Naranjos golf course is a typical Robert Trent Jones design with generous fairways and strategically placed bunkers and water hazards. The greens, recently rebuilt with Penn A4-gras, are spacious and slightly undulated. The tees are long and have four markers: red, yellow, white and black with course lengths starting from 5.131 metres and reaching 6.532 metres at its longest. (...)
La Quinta Golf Course was designed by three time world champion and Ryder Cup winner, Manuel Piñero it is one of the most attractive golf courses in the area, accessible to all levels of play. It satisfies the amateur golfer in the same way as the professional. The speed of its greens is noteworthy, as is the quality of the service offered in the golf club. La Quinta Golf course has 27 holes, split among 3 nine hole golf courses, which are completely integrated into a splendid natural landscape of exceptional beauty, from which one can contemplate the Mediterranean Sea which bathes Marbella and the mountains which surround the Benahavís Golf Valley. The combination of these three golf courses give the golfer a wide choice of possible golf games. The golf course has been remodelled, both in its design and its technical installations, and has become one of the golf courses that hosts a European Tour event, testament to which are the various editions of the Benahavis Senior Masters or the Spanish Ladies Open which have been held at La Quinta Golf Course. Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort (formerly Marbella Golf Country Club) welcomes a new era while preserving the original course’s spirit: a challenging, beautifully designed par-72 layout set on the Costa del Sol. Crafted by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr., the course blends strategic design, natural contours, fast greens, and well-placed bunkers — including several holes guarded by lakes — for a truly memorable round. The course is split into two complementary 9-hole loops. The first nine are tighter and more technical, demanding precision and thoughtful play. The back nine opens up with longer holes that favor a more aggressive strategy, offering room for woods and hybrids. Both nines take full advantage of the terrain and panoramic vistas, creating variety and challenge for players of all levels. Surrounded by unspoiled nature and framed by sweeping views of the Mediterranean and the Sierra Blanca mountains, Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort delivers an exceptional golfing experience. Conveniently located just 5 minutes from Marbella center and 30 minutes from Málaga Airport, it’s the perfect destination for both local and visiting golfers. (...)
