La Manga Club Resort North Murcia, Murcia
La Manga Club North is one of three championship courses at Spain's oldest major golf resort, designed by Robert Dean Putman when the club opened in 1971. Of the three, North is the most approachable, built with tighter fairways and larger greens that reward accuracy without punishing a golfer for every small mistake. Palm trees, lakes and the resort's distinctive ''barrancas,'' natural storm gullies that thread through all three courses, give North its character and its challenge. The par-3 2nd is the hole everyone remembers, its three-tiered green demanding real precision on the putting surface as much as off the tee. It's a course built on shot-making rather than raw power, well suited to golfers who want a genuine test without the toughest edges of its sister courses. La Manga Club Resort South Murcia, Murcia
La Manga Club South is the resort's original championship course, designed by Robert Dean Putman when La Manga opened in the early 1970s and later remodelled with input from Arnold Palmer. It remains the toughest and most storied of the three courses, and the one most closely tied to La Manga's tournament history. Water comes into play on fifteen of the eighteen holes, and the back nine turns notably harder than the front, asking for real composure once the round is already underway. Wide fairways offer room off the tee, but the demanding mix of short and long holes means nothing here plays itself. South's pedigree speaks for itself: it has hosted five Spanish Opens, including Arnold Palmer's celebrated 1975 win, and continues to host the European Senior Tour's Farmfoods European Senior Masters today. The wider resort brings a full golf academy and decades of championship infrastructure to back up the round. La Manga Club Resort West Murcia, Murcia
La Manga Club West is the newest and most technical of the resort's three championship courses, a Dave Thomas design that began as nine holes in 1986 before growing into a full eighteen in 1996. Where North and South play through open, palm-lined terrain, West is genuinely different: a tree-lined, parkland-style course carved into wooded hills. Narrow fairways and the resort's natural ravines, known locally as barrancas, demand precision from the very first tee. The front nine is about placement, testing whether you can keep the ball in play through tighter corridors of trees, while the back nine turns more mountainous and tactical, rewarding careful club selection over raw power. It's a course that rewards patience and course management, and one that regulars often rate as the most rewarding challenge of La Manga's three. Set slightly apart from the rest of the resort but easily reached by buggy, West offers a genuinely different round within the same historic address.
