The Alto Club Golf & Academy (Ex Almenara Golf Course)
The Almenara Golf course is characterised by wooden terrain of pine trees and cork oaks in the front nine and with water on the back nine. Unless your exceptionally straight you are likely to find yourself in both.Two large lakes make it a picturesque course with a floodlit driving range adding to the sparkle of the water in the evenings. The greens are of a good standard but quite small.A challenging golf course with narrow and hilly fairways and typical high lipped fairway bunkers. The complex is situated on the Sotogrande estate and near the the golf courses of Valdarrama and San Roque. It is well worth playing if you are staying in this area but it does not compare in quality or design with it two famous neighbours.The Almenara golf course is also home to the Almenara School of Excellence with all modern amenities for golf practice. The school has a capacity of 90 players, 3 normal size practice holes, approach and putting areas and a swing video analysis.

Very happy with our choice to play The Alto Club. Conditions were perfect and staff was friendly. Restaurant was good after our round. This was an 8 guy golfing trip and everyone said they would play this course again when we come back.

Für uns war der Platz neu. Sehr nett war das Personal. Der Platz selbst eigentlich interessant und abwechselungsreich.... eigentlich. Dieses Plus wurde leider durch
einen mehr als mäßigen Pflegezustand stark beeinträchtigt. Egal ob Teeboxen, Fairways oder Greens, wobei letztere noch am besten waren. Derzeit nicht wirklich empfehlenswert.

Overall an enjoyable day. The first 9 we played was quite tight but with enjoyable holes, we played the Lagos loop second and it did open up a bit. Greens were slower than other course we have played in the area but generally in better condition. Check in process was smooth. I would recommend giving yourself an extra 10 minutes to make sure you can find the clubhouse and parking.

Really a very nice course with an interesting layout (Pinos and Lagos). The maintenance can really be better, therefore "only" 8 points. Friendly staff and a good service. The actual pricing is very attractive, so we will return soon.
