Palomarejos Golf Course sits on land that's belonged to the same family for over 175 years, at the entrance to Talavera de la Reina, under an hour from Madrid. Rather than sell the 160-hectare farm for the property development booming around it in the early 2000s, local businessman Vicente Hesse chose to build a golf course instead, designed by Julián García Mayoral and completed in phases through 2004 and 2005. His daughters run it today.
The result is a genuinely varied par-72 layout across land shaped deliberately for spectacle and variety, five large lakes worked into both the landscape and the strategy of play, and more than 1,300 trees planted across what was once open farmland. It's built to welcome every level, from professional competition to a beginner's first round, and the topography keeps the walk comfortable without sacrificing genuine challenge.
Facilities include a driving range, academy, and locker rooms, alongside a genuinely well-regarded restaurant. The club also runs an adapted golf school, open to players with disabilities. Book ahead for an easy, restful round with real heart behind it.
