Son Termes Golf Course Bunyola, Balearic Islands
Son Termes Golf Course was designed by the Harris Group and José Rodríguez, opening in May 1998 in the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage mountain range just 10km from Palma. It's widely regarded as one of the most ecologically integrated courses on the island, its routing built around the natural terrain rather than against it. The front nine plays across two lakes with birdie chances for the bolder player: the par-4 1st can be driven by long hitters, and the par-5s 5th and 6th are reachable in two. The real test comes at the par-4s 4th and 10th, both climbing uphill to raised, bunker-guarded greens that punish a loose tee shot. The back nine opens into sweeping views over the Bay of Palma, and goats and birds of prey are a regular sight around the course. Facilities include a driving range, locker rooms and a putting green. Andratx Golf Course Camp de Mar, Balearic Islands
Andratx Golf Course was designed by Gleneagles Golf Development and opened in 2000 in the hills above Camp de Mar, in Mallorca's south-west corner. The course winds through centuries-old olive groves, almond trees and traditional Mallorcan stone walls, with over 60 bunkers and seven lakes worked into a genuinely original layout. The par-5 6th is the course's calling card: at 609 metres from the championship tee, it's the longest hole in Spain, climbing uphill through water and trees toward the green. Hole 8 follows shortly after with a tee shot over the bay at Camp de Mar and the hills beyond, one of the most photographed views on the course. Buggies are close to essential given the terrain, and accuracy matters more than distance almost everywhere else on the round. Facilities include a driving range, golf academy, locker rooms and a putting green. The course is irrigated with recycled and desalinated water, part of a long-standing commitment to running sustainably in a dry corner of the island. Golf Santa Ponsa I Calvià, Balearic Islands
Golf Santa Ponsa I was designed by Folco Nardi with Pepe Gancedo and opened in 1977, the second golf course built on Mallorca. The par-72, 6,543-metre course has hosted the European Tour seven times, with past fields including Seve Ballesteros, Bernhard Langer, José María Olazábal, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Lee Westwood, Colin Montgomerie and Ian Woosnam. The course plays long and open, with wide fairways that reward long hitters without punishing the shorter game too harshly. The par-5 10th is the standout: at close to 600 metres, it's one of the longest holes in Europe. Lakes and a genuine variety of trees, olive, pine and almond among them, work their way through the round, and the layout still carries the character that made it a regular European Tour stop. Facilities include a driving range, golf academy and a putting green. The clubhouse is currently affected by renovation works tied to the wider estate, with some facilities running on a temporary basis; the course itself remains open and playing normally throughout.
