El Espinar Golf Course

El Espinar Golf Course holds a genuine first in Spanish golf: founded in 1990 by a group of local enthusiasts, it became the first rustic course ever officially registered by the Real Federación Española de Golf, paving the way for every unirrigated course that followed it. Set on private land at Cañadas Hondas, roughly eight kilometres from the town of El Espinar, it remains true to that founding spirit today.

The course runs entirely without artificial irrigation, genuinely ecological rather than merely marketed that way, with distinctive carpet-style greens in place of conventional turf. Multiple tee positions across several holes give the nine-hole layout the variety of a longer course, and the flat, natural terrain keeps it accessible to golfers of every level. The club is also home to ''A Legua y Media,'' an unusual annual tournament played across a single hole stretching more than 6,500 metres — a genuine curiosity in Spanish golf.
