La Cala Resort is one of the largest and most exclusive golf resorts in southern Europe with three 18 hole golf courses, the only David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Spain and a high standard Par 3 six hole golf course. The natural features of the La Cala terrain have been used to challenging effect by the renowned golf course architect, Cabell B. Robinson. The three courses are carefully maintained to ensure they are playable all year round. The North Course (now renamed Campo America) is perhaps more difficult than the shorter South (Campo Asia) but both demand great accuracy from the tee and careful club selection. Meanwhile, the third golf course, Campo Europa, uses the River Ojen in making the golf course distinctive. The layout allows for plenty of water hazards. All three offer different challenges to all levels of golfers and demand good course management in addition to a wide variety of shots.

Took a twighlight tee time and went round in just under 3 hours. Course in good condition greens very fast especially if you got above the hole.

Very hilly course with fast true greens in an amazing setting, with some spectacular vistas. A buggy is essential. The resort is excellent with friendly and helpful staff.

Greens changed over the summer and still need time. Also rough around greens too deep and penal for a slight miss. Not usually like this.
Tee Times reply: La Cala Team reply:
Dear Nigel,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent game. Our America course reopened on September 2nd following its replacement with Bermuda grass. At this time of year with the heat that we have been experiencing, the growth rate of our grass has been very high which can make it difficult for us to maintain at the ideal height. As growth slows down, this becomes more manageable, and you would no longer see this. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back on our courses in the future for a different experience.

Very friendly staff at the check-in and buggy office. Course fairways a bit dry as typical for the season I guess and it hasn’t rained here for some time. For this it was really ok. greens were ok but a lot of pitch marks not repaired.

Impressive and imposing first tee shot. Good course and wide fairways. Greens and tees not in the greatest of conditions

Not very good design, golballs landing in the fairway run out of bounds. Dangerous blind spots on the par 5's
