Spain golf holidays - Amarilla Golf & Country Club

Amarilla Golf & Country Club San Miguel de Abona, Canary Islands

Amarilla Golf & Country Club was designed by Donald Steel and opened in 1989, hosting the Tenerife Open on the European PGA Tour the following year. The course sits on Tenerife's south coast beside the San Miguel Marina, a short drive from Reina Sofía airport, with Mount Teide rising inland beyond the fairways. The front holes play downhill toward the Atlantic through typical Canarian flora, palms and pines giving way to the coastline itself. The par-3 5th is the course's signature moment: the sea becomes the fairway, and the tee shot must carry a rocky inlet to reach the green. The back nine climbs into the lower foothills, trading sea views for a tighter, more technical test through barrancos and a residential development. Narrow fairways ask for accuracy over power, though the layout stays fair for players of any level. Facilities include a driving range, putting green, and a 9-hole, par-27 pitch and putt just steps from the pro shop, ideal for warming up or for those new to the game. The clubhouse restaurant and bar overlook the 18th and the ocean beyond. Book your round at Amarilla and take on one of Tenerife's most photographed holes. (...)

Spain golf holidays - Costa Adeje Championship Golf Course

Costa Adeje Championship Golf Course Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands

Costa Adeje Championship Golf Course opened on 3 October 1998, designed by José ''Pepe'' Gancedo, a six-time Spanish champion and course architect. It was built on a former banana plantation, restoring more than 5,000 metres of the original stone terrace walls into the layout. The course sits about five kilometres from Playa de las Américas, with views over the Atlantic and across to La Gomera. The championship course runs 18 holes, par 72, 6,203 metres, split evenly between six par-5s, six par-4s and six par-3s. Ravines run alongside several fairways from the 3rd to the 8th, and greens sit on tiered platforms in places, notably at 9 and 14. Holes 1 and 17 have proven the toughest in tournament play. A separate 9-hole course, Los Lagos, sits beside the practice area — shorter, more technical, built around six lakes. The course has hosted European Tour events including the Tenerife Open and the Campeonato de Canarias; Severiano Ballesteros played the Spanish Open here in 2003. Facilities include a two-tier driving range, two putting greens, a chipping green, a buffet restaurant, a pro shop, changing rooms and GPS-equipped buggies, set around a colonial-style clubhouse with wide terraces. Book Costa Adeje through Tee Times for a course with genuine tournament pedigree, built from old banana terraces into one of Tenerife's most distinctive rounds. (...)

Spain golf holidays - Las Américas Golf Course

Las Américas Golf Course Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands

Las Américas Golf Course opened in 1998, designed by John Jacobs Golf Associates, the studio founded by the noted English golfer and teacher. It sits in the heart of Playa de las Américas, laid out as a natural amphitheatre that shelters the round from the wind, with views back over the resort and out to sea. The course runs 18 holes, par 72, 6,039 metres, over gentle, varied terrain threaded with irrigation channels and water-filled ravines. On the right of the 2nd hole are the remains of aboriginal Guanche dwellings, a reminder of the island's history before the resorts arrived. The course has hosted the Tenerife Open de España Femenino, a Ladies European Tour event, and has a long record of national and international tournament play. Facilities include a golf school with video analysis and Trackman, a practice range, chipping green, two putting greens, GPS buggies and trolley hire. The clubhouse has a restaurant, café, changing rooms, pro shop and a TV lounge. Book Las Américas through Tee Times for an easy-walking, well-sheltered round right in the middle of Tenerife's south coast resort action. (...)

Spain golf holidays - Golf del Sur

Golf del Sur Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands

Golf del Sur was made by the famous designer Pepe Gancedo. But Manuel Piñero was the person in charge turning the Golf del Sur into the only golf course on the Canary Islands with 3 courses after renewing renewing the enlargement of the Links course in 2005.. The 27 holes are perfectly divided on the three golf courses: the North course with 2949 metres and 9 holes split in 2 holes with par 3, 5 with par 4 and 2 with par 5. At the South golf course there are 2 holes with par 3, 5 with par 4 and 2 with par 5, covering an extension superior of 2957 metros. The 36 shots recently opened at the Links course are divided in 2 holes with par 3, 5 with par 4 and 2 holes par 5 with a playing area of 2853 metres. The morphology of the soil has a remarkable influence on the features of each round. The presence of the sea and the impressive ravines on the course, giving the player the opportunity to enjoy each visit made to Golf del Sur. The fairways, wide and undulating, are dotted with many natural obstacles. The presence of various water hazards is in clear contrast with the incredible volcanic sand bunkers protecting the greens. Golf del Sur facilities are at the same level of the greatest European golf resorts. The Club House, in traditional style can host events of any kind, with a wonderful catering service from its restaurant. The Pro Shop offers a wide range of first line products. By creating the academy, Golf del Sur clearly aims on the promotion of this sport on the Island. With a driving range, 2 putting and chipping greens and a practise range, it's a complete area for learning. (...)
